Frequently asked questions

How do I make text bold in Discord?

Wrap it in two asterisks: **bold**. For italic use one asterisk or underscore, for underline two underscores.

How do I make big text (headers) in Discord?

Start a line with # , ## or ### for large, medium and small headers. Start it with -# for small grey subtext.

How do I hide a spoiler?

Wrap it in two vertical bars on each side: ||spoiler||. Readers click it to reveal it.

How do I write coloured text in Discord?

Use an ansi code block with colour codes. The easiest way is our Discord colour text generator. Colours show on desktop and web, not on mobile.

Why is my formatting not working?

Formatting characters must touch the text (no spaces inside ** **), and headers, quotes and lists need to be at the start of a line.
