How to use the Twitch Emote Maker

  1. Type a short word (2–5 characters reads best). Twitch rejects emotes that are just a single letter or number.
  2. Pick a font, colours and outline. The preview shows the emote at real chat size.
  3. Download all three sizes and upload them under Creator Dashboard → Viewer Rewards → Emotes.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a good text emote?

One short word, a heavy font, a thick dark outline and high contrast colours. At 28 px anything longer than 4–5 letters becomes hard to read.

What size are Twitch emotes?

112 × 112, 56 × 56 and 28 × 28 pixels, PNG with transparency, up to 1 MB each. See the Twitch emote size guide.

Will Twitch approve text emotes?

Text emotes are common and generally fine, as long as the text follows Twitch’s community guidelines. Avoid other brands’ logos or trademarked characters.
