    Frequently asked questions

    How do Discord timestamps work?

You paste a tag like <t:1767225600:F>. The number is a Unix timestamp; Discord converts it to each reader’s local time and language.

    What do the letters mean?

t short time, T long time, d short date, D long date, f date and time, F full date with weekday, R relative (“in 2 hours”).

    Do timestamps update by themselves?

Yes. Relative timestamps (:R) keep counting, so “in 2 hours” turns into “in 5 minutes” and then “10 minutes ago”.
