What size is a YouTube banner?

2560 × 1440 px, minimum 2048 × 1152, up to 6 MB, with text inside 1235 × 338 px. See the YouTube banner size guide.

Why is my text placed so small?

Only the centre strip shows on phones and desktop. Text outside the safe area would be cut off.
