How to use the Chat Text to Speech for Twitch

  1. Type your channel name and choose what gets read. !tts command or channel points keep it from getting out of hand.
  2. Pick a voice, speed and pitch, then click Test voice in the preview to hear it.
  3. Click Open in new tab (Chrome or Edge), press Start reading chat and leave the tab open. OBS hears it through Desktop Audio.
  4. Or add the URL to OBS as a Browser source and tick Control audio via OBS to give TTS its own volume slider.

Keeping TTS fun, not chaotic

  • Use a command or channel points instead of every message once chat gets busy. A small channel point cost cuts spam a lot.
  • Limit the length to around 150–200 characters and the queue to about 5 messages, so a burst of messages doesn’t take over your stream.
  • Add blocked words for anything you never want said out loud, and let mods use !skip.
  • Want the messages on screen as well? Our Twitch chat overlay shows the whole chat with emotes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add text to speech to my Twitch chat?

Set it up on this page, then open the link in Chrome or Edge and click Start reading chat. The voice plays on your computer, and OBS sends it to stream with your Desktop Audio. You can also add the link as a browser source in OBS.

Do I need to log in with Twitch?

No. It reads your public chat anonymously, like a logged-out viewer. It can’t post messages or touch your account.

How do I make TTS a channel point reward?

In Creator Dashboard → Viewer Rewards → Channel Points, create a custom reward and tick Require Viewer to Enter Text. Then choose Channel point rewards with a message here. Any reward with text gets read, so keep text input to your TTS reward.

Which voices can I use?

The voices built into your browser and computer. Microsoft Edge has the most natural-sounding ones, in many languages and accents. Pick one in the list; if the browser running it doesn’t have that voice, it uses its default voice for the language.

Why can’t I hear anything from the OBS browser source?

Some OBS setups have no speech voices. If the source shows “No text-to-speech voices are available here”, open the link in Chrome or Edge instead. Also check that the source isn’t muted in the Audio Mixer when Control audio via OBS is ticked.

How do I stop a message that’s being read?

With Mods can type !skip on, you or any mod can type !skip in chat. Messages your mods delete, and messages from users who get timed out or banned, are dropped from the queue too.
