TikTok LIVE Requirements
TikTok says you need 1,000 followers and must be at least 18 years old to go LIVE. The follower number may vary by region, so the definitive check is in the app: tap +, swipe to LIVE and tap Get access to go LIVE to see which requirements you still need to meet.

Follower requirement: 1,000 (may vary by region)
TikTok’s help article on LIVE lists 1,000 followers as the requirement to go LIVE and notes that it “may vary across regions.” TikTok doesn’t publish a per-country list, so you’ll see different numbers quoted online. Treat any number other than 1,000 as unconfirmed until the app shows it to you. The TikTok follower counter is a quick way to track how close you are.
Age requirement: 18+
You must be 18 or older to go LIVE. TikTok may ask you to confirm your age when you first try to go LIVE, depending on where you are and whether you’ve confirmed it before. Depending on your location, the options are:
- ID and selfies: photos of a government-issued ID plus 3 selfies from different angles.
- Selfie with ID through TikTok’s partner Incode.
- Credit card authorization: a small temporary charge that’s refunded.
- Facial age estimation: a real-time selfie that a third-party provider uses to estimate your age, then deletes.
If TikTok can’t confirm your age, you won’t be able to go LIVE. If it confirms you’re under 18, you lose access to LIVE and other 18+ features. If it confirms you’re under 13, the account is removed.
LIVE Gifts requirements
LIVE Gifts let viewers send virtual Gifts, and you collect Diamonds based on your LIVE’s popularity. To turn LIVE Gifts on you must:
- Live in a location where LIVE Gifts is available.
- Be 18 or older (19 in South Korea).
- Be eligible to go LIVE.
- Have an account in good standing that follows TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
Government, politician and political party accounts, and other public interest accounts, can’t collect Diamonds through LIVE Gifts. To switch Gifts on or off, tap Settings on the LIVE screen and toggle LIVE Gifts before you tap Go LIVE.
LIVE Studio (desktop) access
Streaming from a computer with TikTok LIVE Studio needs LIVE access. Active TikTok LIVE creators get it instantly if they meet all of these:
- The account was created a certain number of days ago.
- You’ve gone LIVE for a certain amount of time recently.
- You have a certain number of followers.
- Your LIVE access hasn’t been suspended or revoked recently.
TikTok doesn’t give the numbers: they vary by country or region and can change without notice. Streamers coming from other platforms can apply with a form about their existing channel; reviews can take days. Full steps are in how to go live on TikTok.
How to check your eligibility
- Open TikTok and tap + at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe across to the LIVE section.
- If you see Get access to go LIVE, tap it. Requirements you haven’t met are shown in gray at the top.
- Once you meet them all, tap Get access. If you already see a Go LIVE button, you’re eligible.
On a computer, open LIVE Studio and check your status in the top-right corner, then click Your LIVE access.
Why you might not be able to go LIVE
- Fewer followers than your region requires. The in-app screen shows the target.
- Age not confirmed. Complete the age check when TikTok asks.
- LIVE not available in your location.
- A suspension or violation. LIVE access can be suspended for breaking the Community Guidelines. Check your violation records in LIVE Center or your inbox for appeal options.
- Expired LIVE Studio trial. Reapply once you meet the requirements.
If none of these apply, report it in the app: Profile → the 3-line menu → Settings and privacy → Report a problem.
